Hi, I’m Theodor Dawn, and I write dark, epic fantasy where emotional depth, suspense, and moral ambiguity play a major role. I’m drawn to stories where power has its price, loss leaves a mark, and even the brightest characters carry a few shadows. In short: I like writing about all the things that make life complicated, just with more magic, larger conflicts, and occasionally significantly worse weather.

Stories have accompanied me my entire life. For me, books, movies, shows, and games never simply ended just because the last page was turned, the credits rolled, or the final boss was defeated. Characters, images, and scenes lived on in my head. Sometimes very welcome, sometimes in the middle of the night when I really should have been sleeping. From this internal continuation of stories, my own writing eventually emerged.

Alongside books, video games have shaped me in particular. I grew up with Gothic (and its unapologetic "punch to the face" charm), Warcraft, and StarCraft. That means rough heroes, fallen kingdoms, massive battles, and tragic choices. These worlds showed me early on how powerfully atmosphere, characters, and moral conflicts can resonate. For me, all of this was never just a pastime, but always a gateway to stories that echo long after the screen goes dark.

In my own stories, I am especially fascinated by choices that are more than mere turning points. Every choice means embarking on one path while leaving other possibilities behind. Exactly there, between hope and loss, light and shadow, strength and doubt, is where my characters usually feel most at home—or at least as comfortable as one can feel when the author has decided things aren't quite dramatic enough yet.

So, if you want to follow characters who don't always know if they're doing the right thing, yet still stumble headlong into the next moral dilemma, you've probably come to the right place. My stories are for anyone who loves to root for the heroes, suffer alongside them, and occasionally ask themselves: "Why does he do this to his characters?" The answer is simple: because otherwise, it would be too easy.
